LIFE IS A MYSTERY
Socrates (and many since) believed the unexamined life was not worth living.
So examine everything.
That’s the idea behind this subscription box, and the blog that accompanies it. To explore every inch of life: philosophy, history, science, spirituality, art, craft, and the natural world – one month, one topic, one prompt at a time. To get to know yourself, your town, and your species.
Those are big words, but what will that look like in practice? Check out our blog to get an idea of the quality and variety of things we have planned. Take a look at our prototype box to get a hint of the structure and form of future boxes. In short, stick around. It’s a big world out there, and we’re ready to dig in.
Each monthly Mystery Box will be centered around a theme, and include the ingredients for several projects, activities, or challenges - we'll call them 'projects' for short. Projects may be to create something, to reflect on a question and then act on your conclusion, to get up and go somewhere or do something. How far you take it will be up to you.
Each month's box will contain items relating to several projects. All three box levels will get something for each project, but the higher box levels will receive more items - so subscribers to higher levels will have an easier time jumping right in.
Additionally, the See New Heights and Shoot The Moon plans include Mystery Mail, which are bonus materials (envelopes, postcards, or similar featuring fun surprises) that will arrive separately from the main monthly box.
If you would like to upgrade your subscription, just contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If we told you, it wouldn't be a mystery. But we'll give you a hint: everything should arrive sometime during the month of your subscription (e.g. payments made before the April cutoff cover May subscriptions).
The boxes and mail are designed for adults (or older teens). All materials would be appropriate for children of any age (nothing will be mature, explicit, or offensive in nature), but adult involvement would probably be required for children to get the most out of a subscription.
Absolutely not. 98.5% of activities and adventures require no advanced fitness whatsoever. Some projects may involve walking or traveling, so subscribers with limited mobility may need to modify these to fit their situation.
If you have any concerns, either before subscribing or after receiving your box, please don't hesitate to contact us at email@example.com. Mystery shouldn't be dangerous.
Preorders Only: When you preorder, your credit card will be charged immedately for the amount of one subscription month. Your credit card will not be charged again until subscriptions begin. Your card will then be automatically charged on the 20th of every subsequent month.
Preorder Example: You preorder on November 10, and your card is charged. The first round of boxes is sent out in January. Your card would be automatically charged again (for your second month, February) on January 20.
When you subscribe, your credit card will be charged immediately for your first subscription month. For each subsequent subscription month, your credit card will be automatically charged on the 20th of the preceding month.
Example 1: You subscribed on July 10, before the August subscription cutoff date. Your first subscription month would be August. Your card would be automatically charged again (for your second month, September) on August 20.
Example 2: You subscribed on July 28, after the August cutoff. Your first subscription month would September. Your card would be automatically charged again (for your second month, October) on September 20.
Preorders Only: We recognize that preordering a product from an untested company is a risk, and we're so glad you decided to become a Mystery Box pioneer. Preorders may be cancelled after 45 days (if subscriptions have not commenced). Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will refund your preorder.
[And we don't expect it to come to pass, but just in case: if we ever determine boxes will never be shipped, we will issue a full refund for all preorders.]
It's simple - we'd hate to see you go, but we're not clingy. Just email us at email@example.com letting us know you'd like to cancel your subscription. We'll send you a confirmation email, and you'll never be billed again. You will still get a box (and mail) for any future month you've already paid for.
